Kevin approaches clinical work from a place of curiosity, warmth, and compassion. He strives to cultivate a safe, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive space to develop understanding and acceptance of his client’s challenges collaboratively. Kevin also prioritizes the collaborative development of goals and often supports his clients in processing challenging emotions and developing concrete, actionable strategies to effectively meet their unique needs. Kevin has experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety (e.g. social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic), trauma (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma), substance use difficulties, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and borderline personality disorder. He also works with individuals struggling with perfectionism, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, bereavement, life transitions, assertiveness, suicidality, difficulty regulating emotions, and emotional over-regulation.
Kevin flexibly draws from several evidence-based interventions, including emotion-focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He often draws from other interventions, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Self-Compassion.
Kevin holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toronto, is registered as a psychologist in Ontario, and holds competencies in treating adults, couples, and parents. He has provided evidence-based treatment and assessments in various settings, including the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health, the Health and Wellness Centre at the University of Toronto Scarborough, the Centre for Student Development and Counselling at Toronto Metropolitan University, and several private practice settings. Kevin has also received training through the McGill University Health Centre’s Addictions Unit and the Toronto Metropolitan University HIV Prevention Lab. He values ongoing professional development and has pursued training in EFT for couples and DBT for families. Kevin completed his predoctoral residency at the Toronto Area Residency Consortium, where he 1) worked within a comprehensive DBT program providing individual and group services and 2) provided individual EFT and DBT services to undergraduate and graduate students experiencing a broad range of mental health challenges. Kevin is committed to providing affirming care to the LGBTQ+ community and has been fortunate to work with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds.
Kevin is interested in how an individual’s biology, personality, and life experiences influence their emotions and behaviours in the present. He has pursued these interests through his research at McGill University and the University of Toronto, focusing on chronic pain, relationships between personality and substance use behaviours, and how these influence treatment.
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys hanging out with his two adorable cats and his partner, as well as mastering incredibly challenging and unique yoga poses.
